LILY BEACH RESORT & SPA REVIEW
LOCATION: Ari Atoll places Huvahendhoo Island
ACCOMADATION: Family Beach Villa and Water Villa
ATMASPHERE: Excellent, Easy going, Relaxed Casual Luxury
This year for our family trip we decided to visit the Maldives. It was my son’s suggestion and everyone without hesitation was aboard. Ok, the Maldives it is! I’ve been there a few times before but never with the family. So I had to begin the long and extensive search for the perfect island. I wanted to pick the best possible Island which would fulfil all of our expectations. You know the Maldives are going to be expensive so picking the right Island was important to us. My Son and Daughter ( 16 and 13) wanted to go diving. I wanted good food, lovely rooms and of course a good spa 🙂 My husband was looking forward to snorkelling and an excellent gin tonic.
What we were looking for:
– A Five Star medium size resort
– Beautiful bungalows
– Exellent food
– Top diving school
– A good house riff (important!!)
– Addtional water sports
There is about 200 resorts to pick from ranging in price, location, accommodation, quality etc.. There are Islands that are adults only, islands great with small kids, islands that offer all inclusive, islands that are more active, islands that are very private and the list goes on…
Besides all of the above listed “wants”, I knew that I did not want to go to an adults only island – this would be too boring for our teenagers (considered adults:), and I certainly didn’t want to go to an island with lots of babies and toddlers (done that!) I was looking for an island that had a mix of nationalities and age groups with no one being predominant.
After lots of research we picked LILY BEACH RESORT AND SPA and we were not disappointed! It was the perfect Island for us and everyone is more than happy to visit this lovely island again!
ARRIVAL in Male: Upon our arrival in Male, we were greeted by a member of the resort who promptly drove us to the LILY BEACH lounge while we waited approx 1 hour for our Water Plane. The Lounge was lovely and served us cold drinks and snacks. They even had a massage chair which my son quickly occupied!
THE SEA PLANE: Seats approx.15 passengers and it was a comfortable and fabulous trip with the full view of all the tiny islands below and of course the famous barefoot pilots.
ARRIVAL LILY BEACH:
Upon arrival at Lily Beach Resort and Spa we were greeted by a lovely hostess who offered us cool drinks and sat down with us to give us a quick overview of our platinum all inclusive package and the locations of the various restaurants and facilities. We then took a buggy and drove to our FAMILY VILLA BEACH BUNGALOW we stayed there for 8 days and then switched to a WATER BUNGALOW for the last two nights (more on that later.)
The only difference between a FAMILY BEACH BUNGALOW and a BEACH BUNGALOW is the connecting door between the two rooms. If you are a family traveling then I would very much suggest the Family Bungalow with the connecting door. These bungalows are also well located near the Family pool area and the Vibes bar. Great place for Families to chill, enjoy the pool, eat snacks, listen to music and play a game of billiard.
